“Is this it?” Checking emails on autopilot.
Scrolling late at night, not sure what I’m
searching for. Reaching for food to fill a
void. Staring at my reflection and wondering,
“When was the last time I felt whole?”
It started as a whisper. Then the whisper
became a scream. Rest no longer restored.
Joy slipped further away. My identity began
to fade.
That scream, my body’s panic, finally got
my attention in the middle of burnout. I
was craving ease. Trying to find lightness.
Desperate for something real.
I didn’t need another quick fix. I needed
transformation. Not the “one size fits all”
kind you see on social media. But soul-deep
change. The kind that demands you slow
down, tune in and let go. So I booked a
retreat, packed my bags and headed to the
motherland of India where I surrendered
to the ancient rhythms of Ayurveda at an
immersive resort in Kerala- a region often
called the heart of Ayurveda.
From the moment I arrived, something in me
softened. I was greeted with radiant smiles
and kind hearts. Time slows down here.
Nature takes the lead. The warm air wrapped
around me like a soft embrace. And in that
stillness, held by it all…I exhaled fully, for the
first time in years. It felt like coming home.
The Awakening: A Journey Begins
Up to this point, I had studied Yoga and
Ayurveda with some of the world’s best
teachers, but this was my first full immersion.
My version of self-care had more or less
leaned toward scented candles and sunset
cocktails. Pedicures, not protocols. Lovely,
yet superficial.
But this? This was something else entirely.
This was deep healing.
The first morning, I met with the Vaidya,
Self
Through Ayurveda
Rediscovering
Before the healing, came the unraveling.
